Picture yourself on a cake

BARSTOW -- Have your face on a cake and eat it too.

A new cake shop called The Cake Store will be opening, and it will enable residents to have personal photographs on their cake using photo imaging technology.

The photograph is put into a computer, which prints the picture onto sugar paper with edible ink.

The owner, Janice Miller, hopes to open the store by June 1 in time for high school graduation.

"People can bring in their graduation photograph to put on a cake," Miller said.

Miller has been decorating cakes for the last 25 years. She worked at Vons in the cake-decorating department for 20 years until she decided to open her own store.

The story continues in that vein for several more paragraphs.

Since you are not getting permission to repeat the stories as others pay to do (weather the AP or other sorces) could you at least attribute the newspaper the article(s) are from. Otherwise this is illegal plagiarism. Even with the attribution it may still be plagiarism, so you might want to look into journalistic law at your local law library.

Well, the title for the post links to the original article, which is on the website of the Desert Dispatch newspaper of Barstow, Calif. The section of the article which I quoted directly is in "blockquote" format, i.e. both margins are indented -- a convention used throughout my site and on many other sites. I don't think there's much room for readers to be confused as to whether (or weather) or not I wrote those paragraphs.
