A very nice mention

Thanks to Alexis McKinnis, the sex columnist for the Twin Cities' vita.mn, for today's very complimentary mention of my book How I Adore You. In answer to someone asking for pointers on learning something about power play, she writes:
If you need some inspiration, pick up a copy of Mark Pritchard's "How I Adore You." It's a collection of erotic short stories that mostly focuses on different degrees of BDSM. The first story, "Pretend," is so tastefully salacious that you won't need much more to inspire you, though you probably won't want to put the book down until you hit the back cover.
I'm a fan of Alexis' writing too, and I hope she writes a book someday soon so I can return the favor.

Best band name ever for a non-existent band

From Alexis:
The Blob That Ate Tasha Yar
That rocks so hard. I am putting Alexis on notice right now, I'm stealing that for inclusion in my book. Of course, that doesn't mean others can't steal it.

It's Bad Behavior Friday™! -- Special Alexis edition

Judging by her submission of an instance of Bad Behavior in this completely off-topic comment, my pal Alexis either has forgotten my email address, or just misses the Bad Behavior feature of this blog, which has languished since I got my new job three weeks ago.

Okay, kid, this one's for you: a 20-year-old off-duty Northwest Airlines employee was arrested this week for sexually assaulting a sleeping passenger. And in other airlines news, two Delta employees were found to have used their employee status to smuggle guns and drugs on flights. Finally, a customer revolt has caused Air New Zealand to reconsider not giving out "biscuits" (which I think refers to what we call a cookie) on flights.

Of course, this week we had the flap over Ann Coulter's f-bomb. A SF Chronicle reporter compiled the condemnations, which included denunciations from Republican presidential candidates on the right and the not-quite-so-far right, and concludes that the reaction might represent a tipping point in favor of less tolerance for such language. Of course reporter Wyatt Buchanan is totally gay himself.

In Chicago, of all places, a columnist attempts to answer the question: Should you eat food that's been dropped on the floor? I know that is going to get a lot of hits, for even 80 years ago, T.S. Eliot was wondering, "Do I dare to eat a peach?" and many people have wondered about that line in "The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock." The best explanation is, of course, that the narrator had dropped his peach on the floor.

Finally, best of all: the Westchester Co., New York dominatrix who was recently busted pleaded not guilty to prostitution charges, declaring:
I am fighting for the women of America.

It's Bad Behavior Friday™! -- straight boyfriend edition

Did you know you can order a straight boyfriend on the internet? No, it's not Craigslist, a dating site, or pr0n. Give it a try.

For the record, Cris rejected this choice and ordered hers from the men's department. That's how she plays it.

Speaking of which...

That's my friend Alexis, on vacation from snowy Mlps in sunny PR. She calls it right: "Homage to Stanley Kubrick," missing only the cowboy hat.

I also loved her previous post about a passive-aggressive flight attendant:
After noticing my seatbelt was off while the fasten seatbelt sign was illuminated during flight, asking me about it, then hearing my explanation that I was just getting up to use the bathroom, she said "well, I guess that's your decision."
All right, on to our usual parade of depravity. Here's a very short news story; it's all in the headline: Woman found dead under Houston motel bed. That pretty much sums up Houston -- well, except maybe the Rothko Chapel.

In San Francisco, a man, whom the cops searched and found drugs on, ate the evidence off the hood of a police car while officers were struggling to handcuff him. Unfortunately the baggie wasn't sealed and the man went into convulsions and died on the spot.

The handsome wife of former New Jersey Gov. James McGreevy -- who appeared at his side when he revealed to media "I am a gay American" -- will tell all in a book now that their divorce has been finalized. Her book will give her side of the story McGreevy told in his own book from last year, and apparently she is a lot more pissed off than she's let on til now. So it should be good.

Finally, courtesy galleycat we have Today's Fake™: a woman who described a rape in court was lying about the incident to delay another court hearing about a huge debt she owed. This revelation casts doubt on the memoir she wrote about being a single mother who turned to prostitution.

Oy. Why does everything have to be a memoir? Wouldn't it have been better for her to just write the same book, put the words "a novel" after the title, and let readers wonder how much of it is true?
