Art and hanging out

Since Cris came back two days ago, we've done a bit of sightseeing, trying to have some fun together before I disappear for seven weeks. Yesterday we went hiking in San Pedro County Park in nearby Pacifica. There the wildflowers were plentiful and the grass was thick and still green. It was a beautiful day for a short hike and only got prettier and prettier. Then today we drove over to the Palace of the Legion of Honor, a grandly named edifice close by the Golden Gate. In fact it's an art museum where a lot of mostly European art hangs; we saw some paintings that had, in some way, to do with Poland -- exactly what was not always clear. My favorite piece was this painting by Jan Matejko of a glum court jester.

Then, in a descent from the sublime to the ridiculous, we went to Costco, where we got a membership. Cris was converted to Costco during a recent trip to Canada, from which she brought back a jumbo bottle of shampoo. I was frightened by everything about the place.
