MFA -- Mighty Fine Assignment

Pursuing our recent themes of the so-called creative writing gulag and writing workshops, the SF Chronicle Sunday Magazine published a piece actually looking at the pros and cons of taking a creative writing MFA at local schools.

Speaking of which, I posted snapshots from Squaw showing members of my fiction workshop and my housemates. And the LA Times today has a piece about a playwrights workshop.

Hi Mark,

Yeah, I noticed the MFA article, and when I looked at the bottom where they list what all the high tuition fees are for several MFA programs, I thought how much better off a lot of people would be if they opted to take writing classes that can be found outside of college programs, ala The Writing Salon classes that are happening right in Bernal! (Only later did I realize that the Sunday pink section also ran a story called "Get Creative" that actually mentioned the Writing Salon.)

Anyway, also wanted to say that I enjoyed peeking into your Squaw Valley writers'conference experience.
