Florida GOP congressman Mark Foley
resigned from Congress today after word got out about emails he sent to a 16-year-old page. (A page is a sort of intern attached to the Congress itself rather than to a particular member's office, and pages are commonly high-school aged kids.) The messages were sexual in nature. Just so you know.
The best part:
Foley, as chairman of the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, had introduced legislation in July to protect children from exploitation by adults over the Internet.
Foley (
Wikipedia page) was thought to be a lock for re-election. Now he's toast.
