Q. You call your new book, Doggy Bag, a collection of hyperfictions. What are hyperfictions?Meanwhile, back on the east coast, the count is up to 45 passages in Kaavya Viswanathan's "packaged" novel that resemble passages from two books by Megan McCafferty. On the Today show this a.m., Viswanathan got the Katie Couric treatment.
A. Hyperfiction is fiction plus hype. All literary labels are hype.
Note to authors who have fudged various parts of their book (or their bios): don't go on a show where the host has just been named a network anchor and is eager to show how serious and hard-hitting she is.
