Dept. of bad planning

After hearing (on the radio) and reading (on the web) reviews of War of the Worlds, I've already decided I don't want to see it. But I do have one question. Many of the reviews mention the film's assertion that the aliens' attack has been "millions of years" in the planning. Well, if they had that much foresight, why didn't they just take over 20,000 years ago, before humans became the dominant species?

who knows?! I can only guess its some weird scientology tie in. I can understand your protest, but if you can ignore the sporatic emp, the burried machines, and the 2 whining kids its a good flick.

OTOH read the book! really even if its like 1 100+ years old its pretty good!

It's too bad you've made up your mind to not see it. You've probably missed a great many good films this way.
The comments about the aliens being here for millions of years? It's not a big deal. It is only a theory . . . and a theory advanced by a madman.
As Alfred Hitchcock would have said, "It's only a mooooovie."
