Support queer clergy

You might not be religious, but after reading this story about a lesbian couple rejected when they tried to join a Roman Catholic parish and this story about a lesbian pastor forced by the local bishop to resign from her supportive congregation, you might be interested in the announcement below, sent to me by a friend who works with an organization for inclusivity in the national Lutheran church body, the ELCA:

I hope you will join me and many others in an exciting grassroots movement to make the ELCA a more welcoming and nurturing church.

As the 2005 ELCA Churchwide Assembly in Orlando approaches, goodsoil.org gives us an opportunity to influence the church policies that affect our lives. At goodsoil.org you can participate in email campaigns and online petitions addressing timely issues such as marriage and convenanted same-gender relationships or the celibacy requirement the ELCA imposes on LGBTQ candidates for ministry.

You can also use goodsoil.org as a resource to stay informed about issues that will come before the 2005 Churchwide Assembly. We can all take part in creating the future of the ELCA.

Thank you!
